TAGUIG CITY, Philippines – What does a sustainable future look like on a college campus? At Enderun Colleges, the answer took shape this Earth Day.
On April 22 and 23, 2026, Enderun launched Sustainability Week 2026 under the theme “Shaping Enderun’s Greenprint,” a two-day program that moved sustainability beyond the classroom and into real conversations, hands-on action, and community commitment. Inspired by the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals, the week brought together students, faculty, industry professionals, and campus organizations, demonstrating that the choices made within a campus can ripple outward into a broader, more resilient world.
At the heart of these efforts is a strong student-driven push. As Mr. Danny Perez, Chief Operating Officer of Enderun Colleges, shared, “A lot of the initiatives that the school has taken are really implemented by the biggest population of this campus, which is the Enderun students. Their ideas and projects are the reason why we have sustainability output.”
The program opened on Earth Day itself, Wednesday, April 22, with a celebratory launch at the Tent, co-hosted by students Vince Manalili and Janis Tan. A special guest, Ms. Philippines Earth 2025 Joy Barcoma, took the stage as well to inspire the community on environmental stewardship and responsible living, setting the tone for a week of purpose-driven action.
“I’m super impressed knowing that this has been organized by students,” Barcoma remarked. “I like that they are actually putting in time and effort just to make sure that people, especially students, are now involved when it comes to the talks of sustainability.” She added that Enderun stands out by “making sure that every student is involved when it comes to sustainability efforts, not just of the school, but as individuals shaping the future.”
The opening also spotlighted Enderun’s own sustainability milestones, including a major transition on the horizon. “By June, the school’s electricity will be coming from one hundred percent renewable energy,” Perez announced. “That’s another milestone that we’re very proud of.”

The afternoon shifted gears with the Sustainability Showdown, a pitch-style competition where Purposive Communication students presented sustainability-driven solutions for the campus. The day closed with The Great Green Challenge, a high-energy game facilitated by ELED that blended a fast-paced quiz format with an on-campus sustainability quest, testing knowledge, sparking curiosity, and making the SDGs tangible.
On Thursday, April 23, the focus turned to the future. The Sustainability Career Talk, hosted by Engr. Macky Maceda, brought in practitioners from Quezon Power, the Ateneo Institute of Sustainability, and Teleperformance to discuss the rise of green careers and what it means to build a purpose-driven professional life.
The week closed with the eighth season of Pollinator Pocket, facilitated by ECARE. This recurring community garden initiative has steadily grown into one of the campus’s most visible acts of ecological care, attracting pollinators and building biodiversity one semester at a time.
For environmentalist Bert Peters, founder of the Philippine Permaculture Association, initiatives like this reflect a deeper philosophy rooted in education and action. “Everything we need to know is already out there, we can take care of the earth while taking care of our needs,” he shared. “If you look at nature, there is no problem, everything is filled with solutions.”
He emphasized the importance of embedding sustainability into learning early on.
“Permaculture, as a design science based on nature, shapes young people to become proactively part of the future,” Peters said. “We want them to be actively involved in building solutions, especially in a world that often feels purely transactional.”
Across both days, the Greenprint Wall invited participants to post personal pledges and sustainability commitments. Barcoma perhaps captured the spirit of the week best: “The actions that we do today will make sure that we have a future to live in. I hope we continue these efforts, not just for ourselves, but for future generations.”
Sustainability Week 2026 was more than a series of events. It was Enderun’s collective statement that a greener, more responsible future is not a distant goal. It is being built here and now, through the choices the community makes every day.
