FAQ for the Enderun Badges

1. What is the Enderun Badge System?

The digital badge system is a technology-based credentialing platform that is fast gaining attention and recognition worldwide. It sprung not only because of the increased demand for highly specific industry skills, but also due to the rapid changes in the transfer of learning afforded by the Internet. Because companies and jobs now demand more specific skills, there is a growing need to provide evidence of such skills – and these are easily made accessible and shareable by microcredentials such as digital badges.

As a forerunner in the educational arena, Enderun takes the initiative of providing channels through which individuals can earn these microcredentials, particularly those that are unique and relevant to their market niche of interest. By partnering with globally respected institutions, Enderun makes it possible for professionals, practitioners and other individuals to badge their achievement of skills as they shape their own journey of learning and trace a clearer, more promising career path.

2. What is a badge?

A badge is a digital icon that can be uploaded in websites and social media platforms, and on web-based documents such as a resume, representing a completion of a task or achievement of a quality or skill. As such, a digital badge is a most useful hyperlink to relevant information on the competence represented by the badge: a description of the accomplishment being cited, the date and conferrer, as well as a host of curated artefacts such as the bearer’s actual output or video while performing a relevant task.

3. Who can avail of the Enderun digital badges?

All degree program students of Enderun Colleges are eligible to take any of the Enderun badges from their freshman year until graduation. Some badge programs are embedded in some of the courses, which automatically award the students with digital icons upon passing these subjects and the badge accreditation. Optionally, students are encouraged to take other badge programs to further boost their credentials if their schedule permits.

4. What are the benefits of the Enderun badges?

  • Digital badges are micro-credentials.

Just as diplomas and certificates validate the completion of a course or the achievement of a set of skills, digital badges certify the attainment of highly specific skills that usually cannot be portrayed adequately by traditionally printed credentials. Digital badges also indicate that the bearer has successfully attained competencies that are at par with the standards of the organization that issues the badge.

  • Digital badges strengthen the bearer’s electronic portfolio.

While traditional credentials are static documents, digital badges contain dynamic evidence of one’s accomplishment which concretely showcase tangible proof of one’s skill set. Badges can then provide unique and more meaningful content in one’s digital profile. Whether it is a written work, a recitation or interview or a demonstration of a skill, any output that can be electronically saved and recorded can be attached to the digital badge, and can easily be viewed and evaluated by an interested audience.

  • Digital badges unlock more opportunities through its automation and accessibility.

Digital badges can easily be attached to web-based platforms and documents, increasing their searchability and the accessibility of the evidence contained in them. Thus, these digital badges can easily be circulated and accessed, allowing highly qualified candidates to be easily sourced by potential employers or stakeholders.

  • Digital badges encourage lifelong learning.

Aside from a wide array of stand-alone badges that one can aspire for, there are also interconnected badges that encourage bearers to aspire for more of these digital pins. Some unlock access to more advanced badges, while others may be stacked to form an aggregate digital badge. Whether stand-alone or interlocking, the badges trace an endless pathway of learning for the bearer.

5. Where can students display their digital badges?

Learners can proudly display earned badges through their social media profiles like LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, and Xing; send them via email; or showcase their credentials on their personal website.
