It is very difficult to start any business. It may come to a point that their talents and hard work weren’t leading to anything. The reason why entrepreneurs need this trait is because it becomes increasingly harder to get everything right the first time. Whenever they want to implement their product vision, the first result is always flawed. They soon learn that if they want to make something that is appealing to the market, they have to believe that they can no matter how many times they fail until they succeed. Additionally, there may be competitors who resort to bringing down your self-confidence by insulting your ability or your business. You shouldn’t allow them to bring you down with words.

Most of you think that your teachers just want to waste your time and make you suffer, but no. Most people have a hard time adjusting to changes, especially negative ones. Emotional flexible people are good at changing their natural emotional reactions to new situations, so they can have better outcomes. They know when to let go, they are willing to learn by themselves and through others.

A business owner can definitely have times when they find it hard to let go of a traditional product for example. For example, he started the business by selling non-smartphones similar to a Nokia. Many years later, he realizes that their customers prefer smartphones now and their sales have heavily decreased. He is sad to let go something he worked so hard for, but he realizes he has to move on to making smartphones if he wants his business to not go bankrupt. The owner was flexible enough to move on and try something new.

In management courses, teachers always discuss why certain brands succeeded for such a long time. These long-term companies were usually the ones who were able to stand out from their competition. In other words, they innovatively thought of products and services no competitor was able to create. They came up with creative ideas that customers loved.

An entrepreneur cannot be okay with stagnancy. He or she has always been on the lookout for the next big thing that can potentially help the business grow. Unfortunately, most business owners are afraid of being creative or innovative because they think these new ideas and eureka moments come out of nowhere.

Innovation, contrary to what they think, is actually more of a process. The first step is to ask yourself the right questions from time to time. Usually, these right questions are problems in your life that are hard to solve. Steve Jobs, for example, realized he couldn’t keep a playlist of 1000 songs in a normal disk. So he asked himself, what thing could hold that much music?

After you define the problem, think of an idea that can potentially solve it. Jobs decided that an iPod could easily fit that much.  Afterward, you can finally put turn that idea to a real-life product that is unique and it will contribute greatly to the business.

You should not do this process just once. If you want your business to succeed long run, regularly practice this process to innovation.
