Saturday, 18 April 2015 – Enderun Colleges held its 6th commencement ceremony at the Enderun tent in the college grounds at Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City.
A total of 142 students received their diplomas, while 50 students were recognised to graduate in absentia since they are currently finishing their internships or have been employed in companies and establishments in different parts of the globe immediately after finishing their degrees.
This year’s commencement ceremony also marked several firsts in Enderun having two valedictorians, Erin Lane who graduated Summa Cum Laude in Business Administration, major in Operations Management; and Dan Berdan, Enderun’s first ever Summa Cum Laude in three majors in Business Administration; Marketing Management, Finance and Wealth Management, and Operations Management. Katherine Arnaldo, Summa Cum Laude in International Hospitality Management, specializing in Hotel Administration was this years salutatorian.
The ceremony was graced by Mr. Simon Casson, Regional Vice President and General Manager of Four Seasons Resort Dubai at Jumeirah Beach who is no stranger to Enderun, having been the commencement speaker in Enderun’s first graduation ceremonies in 2010, followed shortly by Chairman Richard Gordon, Chairman and CEO of the Philippine Red Cross. Both speakers shared stories of their humble beginnings and what they had to go through in order to reach success. Mr. Gordon was known for his efforts in Philippine tourism, having previously held the post as Secretary. His campaign “WOW Philippines” skyrocketed both the local and international tourism in the country. Mr. Gordon emphasised on the need to face the unknown to be able to reap rewards. “My father once told me, ‘I don’t care what you are but always be the best in what you do.’ You have a very good education in Enderun, and so compete with the world. Create a new country out of tourism. Tourism is the biggest industry in the world. It creates jobs that will alleviate human poverty.” said Mr. Gordon, “Always remember that if you make fear your friend, you make the future your friend” he added.
